Fall, the season of new beginnings

Fall has always felt to me like a new beginning, more than January does. As we go deeper into November, it seemed like a good time to begin my first blog in a long time.

I just bought a house with my sister–and don’t worry, Rose Hill is not the name of the street I live on. It’s an invented name that sort of represents the concept of “home” I’ve had since I was a child.

Anyway, I have never owned a home before, and I wanted a place to document my projects as I settle in, as well as the things I have been waiting a long time to do and the little things that make a house a home.

I don’t mean anything grand by this–I’m thinking more about planting a garden. Cooking dinners and perhaps baking on the weekends. Maybe some crafts and decorating projects.

I have dreamed of these things more than actually done them, and for various reasons, finally doing them is very healing for me.

My house was built in the 1940s, with cottage elements and a basement rec room that looks like it was done in the 1950s or so. It has quirks and secrets I am still getting to know.

This is more of a record for me than an attempt to gain an audience, but if you happen to see this, you are welcome!
